High Gap Park is the newest park in Big Canoe, inaugurated in the spring of 2019. The park consists of a series of trails that meander in a 36 acre woodland featuring natural springs, wetlands, babbling brooks, small waterfalls and Indian marker trees.
Joe Tipton, a Trails Committee member, conceived, designed, and single-handedly built the trails that comprise this park. His craftsmanship is not limited to trail bulding, however. All the wooden structures and signs were masterfully hand-crafted by him using fallen trees and limbs. He expertly used tools like winches, saws and chisels; even fashioned a portable sawmill to cut planks from fallen logs while in the woods.
Parking on Wildcat Parkway, just north of intersection with Blazing Star Trail and Wild Pansy Way.
